About the OpportunityThe IPS Maintenance Technician is an IPS practitioner and Defence maintenance support specialist. The position targets Defence veterans from maintenance engineering and other technical support backgrounds. The Maintenance Technician supports the development of maintenance engineering activities including analysis and plans to ensure maritime systems are supportable, maintainable, and cost-effective throughout their lifecycle. The role contributes to the development of maintenance strategies and analysis and provides engineering rigour supporting the integration of maintenance requirements into design and sustainment planning. The IPS Maintenance Technician collaborates across IPS disciplines and design engineering teams to deliver effective support solutions. You’ll Need 

Essentials:

  • Trade qualification in a relevant technical discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, marine systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance execution within Defence or complex asset environments.
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures, technical documentation, and safety standards.
  • Understanding of IPS principles and maintenance engineering practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
  • Experience in naval shipbuilding or maritime sustainment programs (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Defence maintenance data systems and standards.
  • Defence maintenance management experience i.e. experiences with digital maintenance tools and platforms (e.g., CMMS, ERP systems).
  • Defence Training Experience.
